'Infinite' Watercolour Series by Janina Victoria

Currently running at Painter's Gallery in Manly, NSW from 6-23 October 2015.

You get upset at things you do not understand, you have dreams at night your mind can not grasp and you see visions that you can’t put into words;
you feel, you burn, you ache, you love - you’re not shallow. You’re a miracle.

The idea behind my series is to give insight of a person's being, to reveal what an eye can't see from the outside. We judge people's potential by their appearance, the way they speak, by what our experiences tell us about them. We look into the mirror and even misjudge ourselves by what we think we can do and the things we can achieve. Oh all the things we could accomplish if we just knew how capable we are. I believe that we underestimate our own abilities and therefore box in our dreams, plans and decisions for our life.

'Infinite' and is telling a story of infinite possibilities. Each person you see here has a different element or landscape blended into their body which is the reflection of their potential, the inside that you can't see with your eyes. I'm strongly passionate about the complexity of a person and bringing people into the understanding of the creativity of their being.

One of my favorite quotes is by the french author Anaïs Nin: “We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. We are made up of layers, cells, constellations.”

Humans are such complex beings; we have layers, dreams, passions and visions. We have skills that we're not even aware of, we dream of things that we can't fully explain, we imagine things and have an incredible power of making things possible. We are far more capable than we are able to understand. Our greatest weapon is our mind; it stores all creativity, imagination and dreams in it. If we think big of ourselves, we will accomplish big things; if we think little of ourselves, we will accomplish little things.

Through this series I want to make the viewer realize the hugeness of their potential and that their only limit to reach their full potential is their own mind.

There’s to inhale and exhale, to touch and feel, to see and taste, to ache and burn, to love and hope, to chase and fight - we were not made for shallow living.

Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage

Every person is a vessel of dreams not yet discovered, potential not yet revealed and strengths not yet found.
